Catching Up

Well... It has been quite a while since I've posted on here. I've been having a lot of problems with the school that my twin boys were going to attend. They had refused to allow them both to attend until after they had an evaluation for either Autism or Learning Disability. Well... at the beginning of this month, I had taken the first boy for his first visit to see a specialist. Now, only a few days prior to this visit (which was on a Tuesday), on the prior Thursday they both were seen by their pediatrician. He had asked if the boys were in school, so I told him what was happening. He in turn said to me that there wasn't any reason why the boys couldn't attend school while they were having their test. Seeing how that the test could take up to 6 weeks and the results at least an additional 2 weeks.

At the visit with the specialist on that Tuesday, she observed one of the two boys. I told her as well what was going on with both of the boys and she too said the same thing. After that first visit for one boy, I in turn went back to the school that afternoon and informed them that it would be at least 4-6 weeks before the actual testing would start. I also told them that Both doctors said there wasn't any reason why the boys couldn't attend school while the testing was going on. The principal said to me "Well, you know what our position is right now and we can not allow them to enter school until after the testing is complete." I then suggested that we all sit down and discuss this, but I wanted my husband to be there to hear the whole conversation. She agreed.

Less than half an hour later, when my husband went in to set up a time for the meeting... She had talked him out of scheduling the appointment and that there wasn't anything more to say until the tests were done. I was so upset!!! This is suppose to be a Christian school... Yet they are denying my boys an education, all because they want them tested! We're not talking about 12Th grade... Heck, we're not even talking about 1st grade! This is Kindergarten!!! I don't understand WHY????

A day later, the other principal stopped my husband in the hall at school and said that he knew I was upset. So, they sent me an email saying that we needed a meeting to sit down and discuss what to do for the boys since the tests were going to take so long. I was too angry and upset to attend the meeting by this time, so my husband went on his own. Now... This meeting has added yet one more person in on the game that they are playing, because up until this point, the only people that have been involved in the discussions were 2 principals (husband and wife), the elderly lady that teaches Kindergarten, my husband and myself. Now they wanted to bring in a Vice Principal that has never sat in on ANY of the conversations and only has heard one side of this story! So, he was there to defend the schools actions against my boys.

During this conversation, the husband principal and the vice principal said to my husband... "We think it would be best that you take your boys to another school. They should be in school, but we don't have what they need here." They don't even know what the boys need and aren't even giving them the chance to find out!

With that, I told my husband that since they don't want the boys, they don't need our daughter either. I need to keep all three of my kids together. I can't afford to travel all over town, rushing to get from one school to the next to pick up kids! That's just seriously stupid to do!

We started with a phone call to another school. One that I trust! With that call, we had an appointment to meet the person in charge and it went great! The following Monday, we had an appointment to meet the new principal and that meeting went even better. So well, in fact, that we had them all three enrolled in the new school and they were allowed to start on that Thursday. When Tuesday came around, my husband went in to the old school and told them that we were taking our daughter out as well. Boy did that start off a fire! The husband principal was very upset. He pulled my husband into his wife's office and basically started making demands of us and telling us to do the right thing! In his eyes, the right thing was... Either leave our daughter there until the first semester was over (in December), or pay them $2800 for that entire semester. Now, we are on a scholarship program for our children and he was saying that we needed to pay him money for services that were not received??? How Christian of him! I think the man is insane! All I wanted was to keep my kids together in the same school. I want them to be happy and I want them ALL to have a good Christian Education.

With all of that being said... I've been through hell and back over the last two weeks because of this other school. Now... My three kids are in their new school... TOGETHER!!! Getting a great Catholic Education and they are all VERY HAPPY! Each day, my boys look forward to seeing their new teacher. All of the hell is worth every single smile I get from my kids, but most importantly from both of my boys.

The new school is allowing the boys to be there while they are getting tested. Autism is OFF the table... Both boys scored low on the signs, according to the specialist. They are still going to be tested for it and other problems as well, but right now the only thing that they have been diagnosed with is Developmental Delay... Which is something that most twins suffer from. So the specialist has said that she has seen many twins come into her office and they are all majority suffering from the Delay that can easily be corrected with the right treatment.

While all of this has been going on, I've been very sick with a cold and also on the verge of a nervous breakdown. The stress alone has triggered a couple of panic attacks. With all of this being almost over, I am starting to slowly get back to my old self and able to eat again. Now I just hope my hair will grow back and the Asthma/Bronchitis subside quickly. :)

Now.... On to working towards the tests for the boys and keeping myself busy with crochet work while they are all in school. :) I've got a lot of plans while they are not at home, but need to be close by the school until things work out completely. :) Wish me luck and PLEASE pray for my boys and their test results...

ALL of the wonderful and great things that has come our way during this very difficult time has been a direct hand from God! God has guided my way in finding all of the paperwork and everything I've needed to make this transition as quickly as possible. Without the help of the other school! So, even though they refused to give us the records for our daughter, I was still able to get what the new school needed, without the other schools help! God is always there for you when you need him, you just have to ask him for help and be open to accept it!

God Bless!!!

STOP CHILD LABELING!!!

Ok... I'm on a mission here!!! I have twin boys that will be 6 years old in a few weeks. They have been labled by others as having learning disabilities. I am SICK of hearing people label a child as being ANYTHING but normal and happy! It's not productive to keep telling a child that there is something wrong with them! It's not helping when people dismiss them because they are different!

If Michael Phelps listened to the lables that were placed on him, he wouldn't be the World's Best Swimmer and have as many Gold medals that he has right now! THANK YOU MR. PHELPS!!! You are a TRUE inspiration to all parents of children that are different in their own way. You are a true HERO. ALL children can look up to you and know that they too can make everyone eat their words of doubt.

I sincerely think that it is time for all of us to stand up for those that have been and still are being labled. It's our duty to stop this and to let every child know that they are more than the labels that others put on them! They can do ANYTHING!

Want proof... Michael Phelps is the proof. He is the PERFECT example that with a strong will and determination you CAN be bigger than the label!!! GO USA!!!

CUPCAKES EVERYWHERE!!!

Well... I have found that I can make quite a few of these things in a short amount of time. Not only are they great for little girls, but they are also great for your traveling Lati Yellow and White sized dolls too. YIPPY!!! The best part for me is that I am working hard with my crochet work (not just cupcakes) to make a trade for another little girl to join my family. YEAH!!! I'm SO EXCITED!!! I've got one more cupcake to go and then I'll be working on dresses.

My new motto is "Will Work For Dolls" LOL So, if you want something made and have a doll for trade, let me know. :) I love doing this!!!

Here We Go!!!

Well, I thought I'd give this one more shot at blogging. :) I think I need to really make this work because there is so much that I love to do and love to share. Why not put it here and share with everyone. :) Especially when you have kids that drive you nuts sometimes and you want to let go. :)

About me... I LOVE to crochet, knit and cross stitch. I love to work with polymer clay, but with my kids around, they love to get into my tools and it's just too much.

Right now, there is something so very important to me. A friend of mine has designed her own line of Ball Jointed Dolls (BJD's). These dolls are to die for! She's starting out small, so she only has 25 of each of the two doll heads she designed made. These dolls are adorable and extremely unique. There will be a sale and viewing at the D.C. Doll Expo as of tomorrow thru Sunday. If you are interested in buying one, you can go directly to her shop online and order one. She does sell just the doll heads all the way up to the extreme complete set of this doll. I'm going to post pictures here, if I can figure that out, so you can see some of what she is taking with her this weekend. Here is the direct link to her shop, just make sure you tell Kim that Elena sent you! :)

Well, I'm off to figure this thing out a bit more and I sincerely hope that you will go take a look at Kim's dolls. You won't be sorry!!! They are worth every single penny!!!

Adios!!!
